This is probably the proudest I've ever been of a production.
One, for I think the first times, I feel ready. I feel ready as a whole production, everyone is where we need to be and now we're just fine tuning things. Nobody is calling for line still. The shops aren't asking people to come in to get the set/costumes finished. The director's notes are very well constructed and have purpose. It's just a very good place to be... for I think the first time I've ever been in a show at ESU.
I absolutely LOVE my costume. It's so fun. I usually get just a button up tshirt and a suite jacket etc.... but THIS time, Oberon gets a kick ass costume, and why shouldn't he? He's the king of the fairies goddammit!

I think one of my favorite things about this show is the opening. The music plus the effects looks SO neat! I want to video tape it because every time I watch it I get goose pimples. Not that it's anything spectacular but it just looks neat when everything comes together.
I also just really am proud of this show because I have never worked so hard at a part. The hours I spent in rehearsals were met if not exceeded by the hours I spent working on it outside of rehearsal. I took this very seriously, I guess you kind of have to if you want to understand what you're saying. But more importantly, for the first time, I want to make sure the AUDIENCE understands what I'm saying.
Shakespeare knew what he was doing that's for damn sure. His writing emphasizes the words, and we're a culture who is so visual. When these shows were originally performed, because scenery was so limited, lines were constructed in a way to tell you everything you need to know. Because many of us, myself included, are visual learners, it's our jobs as actors to kind of blend them together. Sort of MAKE you listen to us, but also give you enough visual clues to tell you whats going on.
It's been really fun!
Also some hopefully exciting news should be coming up in the next couple days that I hope happens. I don't wanna say because I'm afraid I'll jinx myself, which I'm afraid I already have.
Hope y'all had a Happy Easter!
break legs Dyllie! I'm sure you'll be great! Super jealous you get to do Midsummer, I'd stab someone to design that show!
